Ich freue mich, ab Mai 2025 als Professorin für Classics / Lateinische Philologie an der Universität Zürich tätig zu sein. Davor war ich an der Universität Rostock und, seit 2011, an der Newcastle University in Großbritannien angestellt. Seit 2023 habe ich auch eine Affiliation als Extraordinary Researcher mit der North-West University in Südafrika. Meine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind die Konstruktion von Zeit in der antiken Literatur, die Interaktion von Literatur und Religion, Ursprungserzählungen und die antike (insbesondere lateinische) epische Dichtung. Ich wurde 2011 in Heidelberg mit einer Arbeit über das Erzählen im flavischen Epos promoviert (erschienen als Erzählen und Gesang im flavischen Epos, Berlin 2014) und habilitierte mich 2018 in Rostock mit einer Arbeit über Time in Ancient Stories of Origin (erschienen bei Oxford University Press 2020). In meiner jüngsten Monografie setze ich mich mit der Darstellung von Feiertagen in der lateinischen Literatur auseinander, d.h. insbesondere in Texten, in denen es nicht, wie z.B. in Ovids Fasti, primär um Feiertage geht (Festivals in Latin Literature – The Poetics of Celebration, Oxford University Press 2025). Ich habe Bände zu Ursprungserzählungen, antiker Erzählung und Exemplarität, Literatur und Religion sowie zur Zeitlichkeit von Festen (mit-)herausgegeben. Daneben arbeite ich derzeit an einer Übersetzung von Statius’ Thebais für de Gruyters Tusculum-Reihe.
